A month or so ago, Miles the cow cat wasn't feeling very well and the vet asked whether there was a new cat in the house or the neighbourhood that might've stressed him out. I said no, I didn't think so.
Well turns out there is a new cat.
Damn she's pretty. |

Spring in my step
Had an accidental sleep-in this morning, but still made it to work in good time. A surprise morning tea was just what I needed :)

At lunch, I enjoyed some pretty, crumbly, melty, sugary macarons from Brownhaus, in the 2 brightest colours available. A good friend offered encouragement, advice and understanding while I sipped on amazing dutch coffee.
Admired the Perth skyline as I headed back to work. Seriously, how gorgeous can this city be? It's sunny, sky is blue, grass is green and I can practically hear the first cherry blossoms bursting into blooms.
That night, I went to meet Alfred Dwight, a young tabby adopted from Cat Haven and a new addition to a family of four (two humans and two 10 year old kitties). He is such a pretty boy, has a healthy streak of ADHD and is utterly loveable. Cannot wait to babysit the three kitties next month!

I was fed a hearty home cooked meal of Sri Lankan chicken curry, dahl, veggies and paratha. My friends spoil me to bits :)
But nothing can dampen this first day of spring.
A cuddle-filled night and lying next to this purring machine, I am feline the love.

Scaredy cat
He catches flies
Pounces on crickets
Marvels at creepy crawlies
Yet when he spots this ant, he squishes himself up against the wall and freaks out.
I remove the ant before he (the cat) hyperventilates.

Cherry Blossom Series
I have two favourite ornamental flowering trees - the jacaranda, and this, the cherry blossom.
Its flowers are pretty, delicate and striking against the dark trunk. When it isn't flowering, the tree is just as gorgeous with its deep purply red leaves.
They've been associated with the fleeting nature of life, mortality and renewal. As I create my Cherry Blossom Series, my thoughts are with those affected by recent devastating floods, bushfires, earthquakes and tsunamis.
And a little haiku is in order:
pretty pink blossom
blooms despite adversity
as does the spirit
I keep a painting close by to remind me of how lucky and blessed I am, and to trust in the power of my own spirit.

Sorted, somewhat
Also, me and Cleaning, we don't get along.
But once in a while, it all gets a bit too much for me and I clean like a woman possessed. After a week of intensive scrubbing, vacuuming and rearranging, things are looking presentable! There are actually loads more paperwork and things to be sorted, but they're shut away. It's just that I need my surroundings to be neat and tidy before I tackle the stuff I hid :) Except that by the time I get to it, it's probably time for a cleaning spree.
Omg this is my life. Things often look ok on the outside, but there's always something that needs sorting out and I never quite get to it.
